However if you came here because you were interested in my free egg hatching service instead of trying to hatch shipped eggs, please read below and check out the shipped chicks page.
FREE HATCHING SERVICE!!
Some advantages to choosing the hatching service over the shipped eggs is as follows:
1. Shipped eggs are a tremendous risk for a multitude of reasons, rough handling, including accidental mishandling (dropped, crushed, etc) intentional mishandling by Post Office personnel ( someone having a bad day) extreme temperature fluctuations on the ground and in flight, air pressure issues in flight, xrays, etc. etc. etc.....
Most egg sellers will not guarantee their eggs for these reasons because once the box leaves their hands, it's completely out of their control.
2. No matter what my hatching rate is here at home, once the eggs ship, that rate is destined to change and not for the better. I have received shipped eggs that had a 100% hatching rate, but out of hundreds of eggs shipped to me over the past 5 years, this was the exception and not the rule.
3. Then there's all the myriad variables with different types of incubators and styles of hatching. Every incubator is different, seriously, when some of the all inclusive types cost nearly $1000 for hatching less than two dozen eggs per, and another type costs around $40 for hatching 4 dozen plus, some are definitely better than others and unless you are an experienced expert at hatching, the difference in incubators can be heartbreaking when chicks develop but don't hatch due to some obscure incubator problem.
4. ANY incubator can suffer a power outage or other event while you're asleep or away from home and there goes your hatch. I even had a customer tell me that their dog raced through the house, got tangled in the power cord, and dumped the entire contents of their incubator onto the floor crushing all the eggs.
5. Once they hatch, I cull out any imperfect chicks. This is anywhere from 20% -50% or more of the hatch, and this is true of EVERY Cemani breeder. It can be disheartening to hatch out the eggs that survive shipping only to get less than perfect chicks. To me, imperfect means ANY white, including toes. So you're getting the best I have without most of the risks.
6. I am only listing my auctions when I have freshly hatched high quality chicks already available, so they would ship at approximately one week of age, giving the buyer a head start of at least a month over shipped eggs.
7. Even though I guarantee my eggs with replacements should they not hatch, that's another month of waiting for a hatch and still carries all the same risks.
8. There is no additional charge for the hatching service and the shipping is still overnight Express and FREE.
9. With instant chicks, there are no surprises....a lot of people have written to tell me they got scammed by another eggseller when they hatched out chicks that were obviously NOT Cemani, and because three or more weeks have passed, Ebay wasn't helpful about resolving the expensive disappointment. PLEASE be careful of any eggseller who only posts one or two pictures but offers dozens of eggs, or uses pictures that are stolen from Google and other eggsellers.
10. When I send chicks, I purchase additional "on time live delivery" Postal insurance, so please confirm the box contains live healthy birds before leaving the post office in front of a post office employee. If any chicks don't survive, they will be replaced or their value refunded. However, if you don't
verify your chicks arrived safely at the post office, all guarantees will be VOID since the post office insurance is only good until you walk out the door.
11. I have made a point of posting LOTS of pictures of my Cemani, not just one or two pictures like some ebayers because I want bidders to see the quality of the flock I maintain. I am proud of how my birds have turned out and how the chicks will turn out for you. Due to several requests, I am using
two incubators, one with chicks resulting from my Indonesian bloodline crossed on my Toni Marie line, and the other are chicks from my pure Greenfire birds with a few hens from my English birds. I will band the two different bloodlines so you know which is which and can observe the subtle differences as they develop and grow.
12. My chicks ship in a regulation chick box with fresh Gro-Gel and I am now including individual packets of Sav-A-Chick electrolytes ( to put in their water upon arrival) and Sav-A-Chick probiotics to add to their food in order to ensure they immediately overcome any stress caused by shipping.
